Lyrically Speaking - 1/31/17

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Tue Jan 31, 2017 7:46 am

So much for scrapping the idea of theme days, I guess, since for the third Tuesday in a row you'll be treated to the usual Tuesday Wordplay game. You're all professionals at this by now, so you know the drill...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist....

1. You say yes, I say no
You say stop and I say go, go, go

2. Remember when we used to park
On Butler Street out in the dark
Remember when we lost the keys
And you lost more than that
In my backseat, baby

3. Like a ship without an anchor
Like a slave without a chain
Just the thought of those sweet ladies
Sends a shiver through my veins

4. Every time I think I've had enough
And start heading for the door,
There's a very strange vibration
Piercing me right through the core

5. Could I have loved someone like the one I see in you
I remember the good times baby now, and the bad times too

6. All your life you've waited
For love to come and stay
And now that I have found you
You must not slip away

7. So I've made my mind up
I must live my life alone
And though it's not the easy way
I guess I've always known

8. Maybe you'll get a replacement
There's plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain't got a penny
Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground

9. Bobby's driving through the city tonight
Through the lights in a hot new rent-a-car
He joins the lovers in his heavy machine
It's a scene down on Sunset Boulevard

10. I had to meet you here today
There`s just so many things to say
Please don`t stop me til I`m through
This is something I hate to do

11. She'll think I'm Superman
Not super minivan
How could you leave on Yom Kippur?

12. He'll never love you, the way that I love you
Cause if he did, no no, he wouldn't make you cry
He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love
So dog-gone willin'

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist....

1. You say yes, I say no
You say stop and I say go, go, go

Hello Goodbye, Beatles

2. Remember when we used to park
On Butler Street out in the dark
Remember when we lost the keys
And you lost more than that
In my backseat, baby

Goodbye

3. Like a ship without an anchor
Like a slave without a chain
Just the thought of those sweet ladies
Sends a shiver through my veins

Goodbye Stranger, Supertramp

4. Every time I think I've had enough
And start heading for the door,
There's a very strange vibration
Piercing me right through the core

Never Can Say Goodbye

5. Could I have loved someone like the one I see in you
I remember the good times baby now, and the bad times too

Goodbye

6. All your life you've waited
For love to come and stay
And now that I have found you
You must not slip away

The Goodbye Girl

7. So I've made my mind up
I must live my life alone
And though it's not the easy way
I guess I've always known

Goodbye to Love, Carpenters

8. Maybe you'll get a replacement
There's plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain't got a penny
Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Elton John

9. Bobby's driving through the city tonight
Through the lights in a hot new rent-a-car
He joins the lovers in his heavy machine
It's a scene down on Sunset Boulevard

Goodbye

10. I had to meet you here today
There`s just so many things to say
Please don`t stop me til I`m through
This is something I hate to do

Goodbye

11. She'll think I'm Superman
Not super minivan
How could you leave on Yom Kippur?

Goodbye

12. He'll never love you, the way that I love you
Cause if he did, no no, he wouldn't make you cry
He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love
So dog-gone willin'

Hey Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye, Nylons

Kroxquo Bonus: Name another song with artist that contains the magic word of the day.

Goodbye, Cruel World. James Darren

1. You say yes, I say no
You say stop and I say go, go, go
Hello Goodbye - Beatles

2. Remember when we used to park
On Butler Street out in the dark
Remember when we lost the keys
And you lost more than that
In my backseat, baby
Never Say Goodbye - Bon Jovi (Surprised this wasn't one of his hits since it's played a lot on corporate radio these days...)

3. Like a ship without an anchor
Like a slave without a chain
Just the thought of those sweet ladies
Sends a shiver through my veins
Goodbye Stranger - Supertramp

4. Every time I think I've had enough
And start heading for the door,
There's a very strange vibration
Piercing me right through the core
Never Can Say Goodbye - Jackson 5, Isaac Hayes, Gloria Gaynor.... and the bestest version that nobody mentioned by The Communards (Man, I really miss starfish... he had great taste in covers!)

5. Could I have loved someone like the one I see in you
I remember the good times baby now, and the bad times too
Goodbye To You - Scandal (This was not a hit either.... I am shocked. It seems like a quintessential 80's song...)

6. All your life you've waited
For love to come and stay
And now that I have found you
You must not slip away
Goodbye Girl - David Gates (It's weird how only certain "Girl" songs seem to remind people of the Annie Bonus...)

7. So I've made my mind up
I must live my life alone
And though it's not the easy way
I guess I've always known
Goodbye To Love - Carpenters

8. Maybe you'll get a replacement
There's plenty like me to be found
Mongrels who ain't got a penny
Sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John

9. Bobby's driving through the city tonight
Through the lights in a hot new rent-a-car
He joins the lovers in his heavy machine
It's a scene down on Sunset Boulevard
Say Goodbye To Hollywood - Billy Joel

10. I had to meet you here today
There`s just so many things to say
Please don`t stop me til I`m through
This is something I hate to do
Kiss and Say Goodbye - Manhattans

11. She'll think I'm Superman
Not super minivan
How could you leave on Yom Kippur?
50 Ways To Say Goodbye - Train (A really bad Mecca Radio earworm. They seem to have a shitty Train song fixation...)

12. He'll never love you, the way that I love you
Cause if he did, no no, he wouldn't make you cry
He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love
So dog-gone willin'
Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye - Steam (And others, but why?)

Contrary to popular belief, I can't be swayed by a simple squirrel picture... but BiT's squirrel waving goodbye was extra cute, so he gets the 5 point IBB!
