She never did many movies, but her performance in Ordinary People was an outstanding dramatic role, especially because she played so much against her usual TV persona.
She will be missed.

She was amazing on television and in Ordinary People. I used to go by Mom's during my single and non-television-owning years on MTM night to catch the show. I still missed the last one.

The cast of the Mary Tyler Moore Show has enjoyed a remarkable longevity. With the exception of Ted Knight and now, of course Mary, the rest of them are still going strong, despite mostly being in their 80s and 90s.
And I hope I haven't brought the curse of the Tangredi on any of them.

The cast of
The Dick Van Dyke Show is pretty long-lived as well, especially considering that the show is ten years older. Dick Van Dyke, Rose Marie, and Carl Reiner are all over 90. (Ann Morgan Guilbert died only last year.)
And, of course, Larry Mathews is also still alive.

She was the first actress to make it OK to be Hot AND Wholesome at the same time.

My middle school English teacher looked like Mary Tyler Moore. The day after I saw
Thoroughly Modern Millie, it was hard to concentrate in English class.

You had Ms. Bradley, too? She was my first crush. Me and the rest of the 7th grade boys at Burnet Jr. High.

I was never all that attracted to her. Maybe it's because she looked a lot like my mother.
