Getting Jittery

I'm wondering if people wouldn't mind sharing their opinons of the level of difficulty of the audition test? (i.e, to what dollar value do most of the questions correspond?).

How long is the test?

I believe I read it is a scantron-marked test?

Thanks to all who care to share!

I only took the test once, several years ago, so my advice is not worth as much as others who have taken the test more recently.

It was fairly easy, with most of the 30 questions being the equivalent of the middle tier. Maybe a couple that might have been $500 and $1000 questions, and maybe a couple that might have been $64,000/$50,000 questions.

Yes, they use a scantron form. You have 10 minutes to answer 30 questions. TPTB will never reveal what the passing threshold is, but our general consensus is that it's 25. (Although they might tweak that from time to time and we'd have no way of knowing.)

And, yes, most of the questions are middle tier questions from the show. Don't expect to see any of the first tier questions or many of the more difficult ones.

Generally, about 10% to 15% of those that take the test pass it.

Autumn, are you flying to NYC specifically for an audition or are you combining the trip with other business/pleasure? Have you ever auditioned for the show before?

I think the test has been inconsistent.

People who have never worried about passing before, have not passed. People who get on the show and don't even have a grasp of what I call basic knowledge or trivia have passed.

Good luck - may all of the questions be in your wheelhouse.

specifically for the test and no, neer for this show before.

i've been keeping a record of my answers to this season's shows and unfortunately for me, the $8 and $16K questions tend to give me most trouble...lots of pop culture.

I took the test late in last year's auditions. I don't recall a lot of pop culture, or at least nothing that I couldn't handle and I'm a nitwit on the recent stuff. The worst problem I had was remembering which Carolina John Edwards was from. I studied the previous year's transcripts, ,too, but really don't recall anything from them on the test.

Good luck! And if any of the currently scheduled auditioners would post the latest set of audition questions, it would be appreciated by those still waiting in the wings.

I also took the test last year and had reviewed transcripts from the past 3 years of shows. I only recall seeing, perhaps 3 or 4 questions from the transcripts I reviewed. I also do not recall seeing too much in the way of pop culture stuff. Just a bunch of off-the-wall trivia that I was out to lunch on. I believe that taking the test amounts to something I believed when I first started trying out for the show - you either know it or you don't. Not all the tests are similar and if you are lucky enough to get a test that asks questions in your "sphere of knowledge" you will do well. If not, then you won't do well. Not everyone is a walking encyclopedia; we all have strengths and weaknesses.
