I searched for news about Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead of details about the renewal, Google found this article.

Judge Danny J. Boggs of the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals recently announced that he will assume senior status, creating a vacancy on the federal bench for the next president to fill.

Boggs, who served as chief judge of the 6th Circuit from 2003-09, developed a reputation as an intellect with a breadth of knowledge on many subjects.

A 2001 profile of Boggs in The New Yorker magazine mentions that he administers a general knowledge test of several dozen questions each year to new law-school graduates applying to become a law clerk for him. The average score is about 30 percent, according to the profile.

"It's not just knowing a fact that's important," Boggs is quoted as saying in the profile. "It's that you've read widely enough to learn it."

Two of Boggs' former clerks appeared on the game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" and used the judge as their phone-a-friend lifeline, according to the 2001 profile.

'Millionaire' has had an impressive season of growth. Ratings during November 2016 were up 23% compared to last year. The series has seen the most growth of any game show this year.

I've forgotten how many times I auditioned before willing the Million Dollar Buddy contest but it was in the double digits.

I also remember BDM saying that was the ultimate "guy question", and he walked away from it...

Thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the posts regarding last years auditions, who got the video interviews, who got the call, when was the taping, etc.
Now that I'm no longer a virgin in this process (made it through every step EXCEPT for the only one that truly counts ... the call and taping) ... what's the general consensus on reapplying if you're already "in the pool".
Anyone ever get the call in year 2 of being in the pool? or is it better to go through the process again? if you reapply and DON'T make it as far as the year before, do they then weed you out of the pool?
Just wondering if I reapply come 2017 or wait out my "in the pool purgatory" and not give it another shot until 2018.

Much obliged. I knew that there were a couple posts from this year where people had reapplied even though they were in the pool and it paid off for them because they got the call ... just wasn't sure if there was ever a documented case (at least among you good people) of a person who was in the pool from a previous year that got the call in the following year.
Probably going to depend on where the Midwest auditions are this year or if I have a conference in Vegas during taping season as to whether or not I reapply in this calendar year. Although I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. I aced my written and my initial interview but when I got in there with Liz there's a big difference as to reading/seeing a question and one that is just verbally offered to you. While I hit it off good with Liz, when she asked me a sample question there were a lot of acronyms involved and it through me and I'm sure I came off looking rather sheepish and unsure ... not good for the camera. So a "do over" interview would probably be in my best interest.
But who knows ... it's all a crap shoot!!

From genuine experience, here is how things work:

There is no database of auditioners, many of the contestant coordinators will not remember you no matter how many times you’ve tried, so keep trying. Once in a while someone will remember you, and that won’t always be a bad thing.

I auditioned, got in the pool and didn’t get the call. The next year (2016), even though I was already in the pool, I auditioned again figuring it couldn’t hurt. I also planned if they did remember me and knew I was in the pool already, I would just say I wasn’t sure about the dates.

At my audition in May 2016, I got put through to the video interview again. It was the same person who did my on camera interview as in 2015. This person didn’t recognize me.

I got the call in July, had about two weeks’ notice to get to Vegas. About three days before I left for Vegas, I get a call telling me “congratulations, you’ve been chosen to be on the show!” I told them great, I’ll see them next week since I’ve already received “the call”. This person had no idea how this happened.

Yeah, I was in the pool twice and nobody figured it out—go me!

So the answer is “yes, you can get called in year two of swimming”; and the answer is “no, they don’t keep any kind of database”.

Now for a surprise—the contestant coordinators you meet have no say in who gets on the show. There is staff in New York who watch the tapes, read the applications and make that decision. I can only guess this keeps bribes from entering the process?

So go out again, have fun, and don’t worry about it if anyone remembers you. If they do, just say you misunderstood about the amount of time you are allowed to be swimming and didn’t want to miss your chance.

The contestant coordinators at your audition decide if you get the video audition. Without that the casting people in NY can't cast you.

I used to meet coordinators who remembered me & showed me almost-instant door.

Past couple years, new coordinators, still got bum's-rush out. They must have frequent-flier reject list. You weren't on it.
