They Didn't Wait Until Monday

The Monday after the regular NFL season ends has usually been a busy one for losing teams jettisoning coaches, but this year they didn't wait. In addition to Jacksonville (Gus Bradley fired two weeks ago) and Buffalo (fired Rex Ryan last week), on Sunday, San Francisco fired Chip Kelly and GM Trent Baalke yesterday and San Diego fired coach Mike McCoy. Also, Denver coach Ted Kubiak announced he was resigning/retiring. So that's 25% of the non-playoff teams losing their coaches before the regular season officially ended Sunday night.

With the Colts having a meeting to discuss their coach, that number may increase.

Wow. His brother Gary, the head coach at Denver is resigning, too.

Alert minds may notice, and I had already forgot since it seems like ancient history, that the Rams gave coach Jeff Fisher the boot after giving him an extension earlier in the year. So that makes 6 out the 20 non-playoff teams losing their coaches before the official end of the regular season.
