We are arguing over the next vacation destination for the Spocks.

I had always understood that Yellowknife would be the next destination after California 2016. As it stands right now, the vote is 1 for Yellowknife and 4 for Boston/New England.

Don't ask me why I want to go to Yellowknife, I just want to.

There are some wavering voters on the other side. I played my trump card of the Bush Pilots' Monument and that might peel off 1 or 2. The Northwest Territories are the same latitude as Finland and that seems to be weakening their resolve as well.

Plus I can be grumpy and pout like a teenager so I am playing that card as well.

If you go to Yellowknife, go in July when it's warm; right now it's -22°C, a lot colder than Minot. I'm not sure why you'd want to spend more than one day there so maybe plan a driving vacation.

Since you went west last year, maybe go east this year, and then go to Yellowknife next year?

Yep, it is a summer deal. The attraction for me is the long drive.

That reminds me of my Scandinavian cruise in June 2010, when the days lasted forever. Sure enough, sunset in summer in Yellowknife is around 11 pm, and sunrise is around 4 am. That could be an incentive, but you have to try to get enough sleep.

Not sure-but I think they are a ways out. Never touched on this but it is interesting to me. Considering that I live in a very rural area-we have some pretty world class businesses here.

The town 15 miles away-has a company makes aggregate handling systems that have been sold to the diamond mines-they have to bring them in the winter-plus they have sent equipment to the salt mines in Djibouti and obviously other places.

The town (Alexandria and the surrounding area) is the silicon valley of packaging equipment-one firm was the original-but many people from that business (Douglas Machine)have split off from that and started their own related businesses.
