The Boss Was Wrong

Not that boss, but The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, who told us that there were "57 channels and nothing on."
Well, there's a lot more than 57 channels and, more signficantly, a whole lot that is going on. According to an FX Networks survey, there were 455 scripted television shows that aired new episodes in 2016 (so this doesn't include reality, sports, news, talk, and syndicated reruns). That figure has more than doubled since 2010, when only 216 shows aired. These figures include broadcast, cable, and digital platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime (which didn't have any scripted series in 2010).
