The Boney 500: My #1 Album!

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Fri Dec 23, 2016 9:31 am

Well, here it is, my favorite album of all time. I'm thinking this will not come as a shocker...

1. ABBEY ROAD-THE BEATLES (1969)

There is no album that I love more, and play more often, than "Abbey Road". If you told me I could only have one album for the rest of my
life, I would pick this one. Well, first I'd tell you to buzz off, but then if I absolutely had to pick just one, I would pick this one.
It was released before, but recorded AFTER, "Let It Be". The story is that, after the acrimony that was common during the sessions for
"The White Album" and what would become "Let It Be", they wanted to make one more album, as drama-free as possible. Promising producer
George Martin they'd be on their best behavior, the recording was a fairly pleasant process in comparison to recent months. It's a remarkable
swan song. An astounding variety of musical styles, with two tremendous compositions from George, impeccable harmonies, and then there's "THE MEDLEY".
A group of unfinished pieces of songs somehow miraculously transformed into one brilliant whole, it ends with each Beatle taking a solo, a
final bow if you will, before leaving us with a parting thought ("And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make") and then those
wonderful Beatle harmonies are carried off to Rock Heaven by majestic strings. But being who they were, they were not about to go out in
such a pompous manner, so they puncture their own inflated gravitas by waiting a bit, then jolting us out of our reverie with the silly
30-second ditty "Her Majesty". A typically Beatle move, and a perfect one.

No decent You Tube link available, here's an audio link. Click the arrow next to the first song and the songs should play in sequence.

I had a feeling this would be your #1. That second half medley is my favorite part and I have to crank it every time.

Thank you for taking the time to share your album list with us. It has been an awesome journey.

Wait a minute, I thought the squirrel album was #1? Maybe it's a tie.

Saving it for the updated sequel.

And thank you for taking that journey with me. I appreciate and enjoy reading the feedback from everyone.

Nope, no shocker. I love it that the cover is not only instantly recognizable but is still parodied, or copied, almost 50 years later.

Also that the songs still get airplay. Amazing, amazing.

Thanks, Mr. T!

A masterpiece.

Thanks for everything you put into this. It has been a joy.
