The Phoney 500: The Top 10!
Hey, no use keeping you in suspense all weekend for my ten favorite songs of all time! Here they are.... the greatest music to ever blast out of a Sony Walkman!
10. GOLD DIGGER-KANYE WEST, FEAT. JAMIE FOXX (2005)
ALBUM: I'mma Let You Finish, Vol. 69
Get down girl, go 'head get down to this classic, family friendly hip hop ditty from the master of disaster! This one's got enough reverbing bass to shake the cellulite on Kim's big booty!
9. BURNING LOVE-ELVIS PRESLEY (1972)
ALBUM: Gonna Need A Bigger Jumpsuit
This only got to #2? Man, this was the only thing playing in my 8-track player back in the day! You go with your bad self, Fat Elvis!
8. DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY-BOBBY McFERRIN (1988)
ALBUM: Royalties Pay The Rent
You just gotta love a cappella! Who needs screaming guitars and big, loud drums when you can have boops and bops and musical armpits?
7. MacARTHUR PARK-RICHARD HARRIS (1968)
ALBUM: Who Wants Wet Cake?
A classic through and through... and it even sounds good to a disco beat. Yep, I said it. I can plow through an entire can of sweet green icing and take a dump in the time it takes for Mr. Harris to totally invent the genre of prog rock!
6. AFTERNOON DELIGHT-STARLAND VOCAL BAND (1976)
ALBUM: Hippies in Love
I got three words for you. Best. New. Artist.
5. WE ARE NEVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER-TAYLOR SWIFT (2012)
ALBUM: Who's Got Some Cheese To Go With My Whine?
Awwwww, this song makes me wanna get out those old squirrel footie pajamas I had as a kid and sing along with my bestie Taylor!
4. MONEY (THAT'S WHAT I WANT)-THE FLYING LIZARDS (1979)
ALBUM: Songs From Shop Class
This is what the Wall of Sound should have sounded like! The Beatles? Hacks. Every one of them...
3. MY HUMPS-THE BLACK EYED PEAS (2005)
ALBUM: Fergie And Three Black Guys
Wow, what can I say that hasn't already been said about this magnum opus of hip pop? If you dis this song, I'mma start some drama.... you don't want no drama!
2. BILLY, DON'T BE A HERO - BO DONALDSON AND THE HEYWOODS (1974)
ALBUM: Saving Lieutenant Dan
Sorry guys.... I love your song. Really, I do! I almost put it at #1, but....... well..... I must confess. The ending..... I bawl like a baby every time she throws that letter away.
And the #1 song on the Phoney 500 is.................................................................
(drum roll)
1. I LOVE THE NIGHT LIFE-ALICIA BRIDGES (1978)
ALBUM: Bill Veeck Sucks!
Could it have been anything else? This is the greatest piece of music ever recorded on any media that has existed since man invented the play button! Say it with me now..... ACK-shown! Long live disco!
I hope you enjoyed the countdown everyone!

LOL!
The way she sang this on the 1989 tour was like a different song. This clip gives the idea, though it was a lot better live:TheNotSoGreatPretender wrote:5. WE ARE NEVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER-TAYLOR SWIFT (2012)

Should've gone with "For the Love of Money" by the O'Jays instead.TheNotSoGreatPretender wrote:4. MONEY (THAT'S WHAT I WANT)-THE FLYING LIZARDS (1979)

Actually, I don't mind the Elvis and Richard Harris songs so much, although hearing MacArthur Park about once a year would be quite sufficient.

I kinda like that song. Not so much that it's on my iPod, but not switch-the-station material either.jarnon wrote:Should've gone with "For the Love of Money" by the O'Jays instead.

This is a list that a mangy rodent would come up with.

Afternoon delight reminds me of Natalie Black, the beauty who stood me up for prom. Said she got grounded. I've been scarred ever since.Bob78164 wrote:Hey! What do you have against Afternoon Delight? On the 12th, it occurred to me that it was the day I always started the Avatar Countdown on. I laughed when I realized I made no new avatars this year....
Or next year...
Or the one after that...

None of these songs appear on my list of the 50 worst songs ever.
And to be perfectly honest, I love "Burning Love".

Operative word being "slight." OK, 7598 avatars, and summer avatar left up for nine years, 11 months, 20 days.littlebeast13 wrote:That may be a slight exaggeration....SportsFan68 wrote:This is a list that a mangy rodent would come up with.

Where's "Sugar Sugar"?
Your friendly neighborhood racist. On the waiting list to be a nazi. Designated an honorary 'snowflake'. Trolled by the very best, as well as by BJ. Always typical, unlike others.., Fulminator, Hopelessly in the tank for trump... inappropriate... Flocking himself... Probably a tucking sexist, too... All thought comes from the right wing noise machine(TM)... A clear and present threat to The Future Of Our Democracy.. Doesn't understand anything... Made the trump apologist and enabler playoffs... Heathen bastard... Knows nothing about history... Liar.... don't know much about statistics and polling... Nothing at all about biology... Ignorant Bigot... Potential Future Pariah... Big Nerd... Spiraling, Anti-Trans Bigot.. A Lunatic AND a Bigot.. Very Ignorant of the World in General... Sounds deranged... Fake Christian... Weird... has the mind of a child... has paranoid delusions... Compared to most of the gems brought up here, "Sugar Sugar" is "A Day In The Life"...

"I Love The Nightlife" is definitely right near the top (or is it "bottom"?) for me. That song makes me want to do a Van Gogh on BOTH of my ears.
