14. AFTERGLOW-GENESIS (1977)
Album: Wind & Wuthering

An absolutely gorgeous ballad with rich keyboards and a dramatic vocal from Phil Collins. The massed vocal effect at the song's fadeout
is awesome.

13. HELP!-THE BEATLES (1965)
ALBUM: Help!

So upbeat was the feel of this song, and so caught up in Beatlemania was the world, that no one seemed to notice that the words to this
song held much truth in them. Lennon later said that it was indeed a cry for "help", as he was going through some rough emotional times.
Knowing that and listening to this song now gives me a much different feeling than it used to. What hasn't changed is that it's a great,
great song. The interplay between lead and background vocals, the last verse when things get quiet for a bit before things pick back up...
the sophistication in their music was growing by leaps and bounds. No video for this, here's an audio link. Click on the arrow to the left of the first track listed.

When I was younger so much younger than today
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But I am older now and not so self-assured . . .

Kids! Leave home while you still know it all!

Great song! Closer and closer to #1 . . .

This is by far the best song so far. I can't disagree that it beats all the others. I don't really know what could be ahead of this song, given not only the quality and excellence of the song from a musical perspective, but its place in music history as well.
