Aussies Make Last Stand With Hour-Long 'Hot Seat'

The revamped (and cheaper*) Australian daytime version of WWTBAM, 'Millionaire Hot Seat', is expanding to a full hour on Nine Network in the new year.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Nine Network is making the move to try and compete with the new Aussie version of 'The Chase', which premiered just over a year ago (with one of the original UK Chasers on the roster and a second added later) and has been outperforming MHS in the ratings.
There are hints that the number of questions may be increased and one or more new lifelines added. A 'Switch the Question' lifeline was used on the final question on some episodes airing in 2015, as was an 'Ask a Friend' (+1) lifeline, but neither were added permanently after disappearing again after 2015.

Personally, for their sakes, I hope they add 'Ask The Audience' for at least the first round of five questions - they've had some truly painful crash-and-burn brain farts on that first tier, and Hot Seat's audience have less to do here than TPIR's infamous 'Peanut Gallery':
'Have Another Look...' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dvtCcKPsMQ
Should have picked 'D', dude - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAbmJhXRCkc
He never heard of that show - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZYnxz1MySU
'What is a pecan?' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0l-hW6QzJlU (popular radio host; his girlfriend in the audience actually facepalms!)
* Cheaper because the top prize gets cut down every time a contestant is eliminated, the second safe haven is removed, there's no walking away with current winnings, there are no lifelines, just one 'pass' per contestant, and only the last contestant in the chair for the final question gets any winnings - just the $1K for a wrong answer. Oh - and they still have that pesky clock, too. They did finally have a jackpot winner earlier this year - after an eight year wait. Still, they're doing better than the US right now.
