The Boney 500: Album #12

12. TURNSTILES-BILLY JOEL (1976)

His next one, "The Stranger", landed him on the A-list, but this one set him up. It's my favorite Joel album, with a good mix of
uptempo numbers and soft, reflective moments. The production values are kinda murky, but the songs are strong...."New York State of
Mind", "Angry Young Man", "Miami 2017", and the lesser known "I've Loved These Days" among them.

This one is great! I like Cold Spring Harbor nearly as much but this one is right up there. That Prelude/Angry Young Man sequence is just magnificent.

Thanks to the special Billy Joel channel that has played a couple of times on SIRIUS XM radio, I am familiar with every song off of this album. "Miami 2017"... yeah, that one is definitely high on my list of all-time favorite songs.
