34. DRIFT AWAY-DOBIE GRAY (1973)
Album: Drift Away
A good natured ode to the power of a good tune. Yeah, I can relate to that a little...go ahead, sing along...you know you want to.
I couldn't get enough of this song back in the day. It still makes me smile.
33. I GUESS THE LORD MUST BE IN NEW YORK CITY-NILSSON (1969)
Album: Harry
Nilsson wrote this for the movie "Midnight Cowboy", but they used his cover of "Everybody's Talkin'" instead. Not a bad song, but
personally I much prefer this weary but still hopeful tune. The gentle arrangement, including a very well employed banjo,
moves the song along like passing scenery in a car window. The mood created is stunning.
