Both of them with major connections to my hometown, too. Stay safe out there, Avery Brooks.

Ron Glass was a classmate of my drama teacher's at the University of Evansville. Even then, it had a fine reputation (three recent alums have won Emmys). Ron's mother, Lethia Glass, was brutally murdered in the same projects where Ron grew up. It was after he was successful, and he had tried to move her out of there, but she refused to leave. It haunted him.

I never met him personally, but saw him speak a few times to local groups. A classy, classy man.

I loved Barney Miller. I dunno how, because it was during that period of time when I didn't own a television, but I saw a lot of these new. Maybe it was on before Monday Night Football, or after, which I often watched over at Mom's.

I thought Harris was great. Actually, I thought all of them were great.

I still remember a couple of the episodes, which is more than I can say about Monday Night Football.

Awhile back, Barney Miller was on Antenna TV during the time of chat, so I was watching it a lot and decided to check out more about the show. I found Barney Miller had a rather unique element about it compared to many other TV shows that I'd never realized before... the action almost exclusively took place in the 12th Precinct squad room. Only a very small handful of scenes appeared from outside the squad room or Barney's office.... especially in the later seasons.
