The Boney 500: Songs 50 and 49

Into the Top 50 we go:

50. CAROLINE, NO-THE BEACH BOYS (1966)
Album: Pet Sounds

It was released as a single under Brian Wilson's name, but it was on
the classic Beach Boys' album Pet Sounds. It is true, however, that Brian is
the only member of the group on this song. The rest of the instruments are
handled by the unit known as the "Wrecking Crew", who were utilized extensively
on Beach Boy recordings. Glen Campbell plays guitar here. Wilson's voice is so
incredibly sad and heartbreaking, the melody is nothing short of beautiful.

49. CLEAR AS THE DRIVEN SNOW-THE DOOBIE BROTHERS (1973)
Album: The Captain And Me

It starts off as a light and airy acoustic number, but then the skies darken and the intensity picks up.
Of particular note is Tiran Porter's fine work on bass here. A pretty powerful tune.
