The Boney 500: Songs 54 and 53

54. SUPPER'S READY-GENESIS (1972)
Album: Foxtrot

A 23-minute, breathtaking work of art. Drawing from the Book of Revelations, it is a tour-de-force by Gabriel and considered
by many to be the band's greatest work. Artistically, I'm inclined to agree. There are a couple other Genesis songs I listen
to more often, though..the mood has to be right for me to listen to it, but when I do, the experience always has me marvelling
at its brilliance.

53. (You Make Me Feel Like) A NATURAL WOMAN-ARETHA FRANKLIN (1967)
Album: Lady Soul

Written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, but Aretha made it hers as soon as she got behind the microphone to record it. Every time
I hear this, I find myself thinking "dang, I would love to have inspired a woman to sing a song like that about me!" Aretha strikes
the perfect combination of restrained, smoldering, and incendiary. Modern-day Carey and Aguilera wannabes, take note: THIS is what
you should be aspiring to.
