The Boney 500: Album #31

Before the spelling police pull me over, this is the way THEY spelled it, not me..
31. ODESSEY AND ORACLE-THE ZOMBIES (1968)
This album, released AFTER the band had split up, escaped the notice of most people. It was, in fact, over a year before a single
from it, "Time Of The Season", became a smash in the U.S. Even then, very few bothered to check out the album. I admit that I
never heard it myself. Then, not ALL that long ago, after I kept seeing it pop up on an increasing number of "all-time best" lists,
I was intrigued enough to investigate what I was maybe missing out on. And...well, you see the result..it's on MY "all-time favorite"
list...and at #31 to boot. Thing is, there is NOTHING else here that's anything like "Time Of The Season". Lots of chamber pop, a
couple of music hall type numbers (including the wonderful "This Will Be Our Year"), even one that sounds like it came from
the 15th Century or something ("Changes"). Hard to explain...but if you haven't heard it before, check it out. You may discover
that YOU'VE been missing something special, too.
