That would be a lengthy list. What comes immediately to mind is Bohemian Rhapsody. Great song, wonderously creative, and I do like it. And I probably wouldn't change the station if it came on during one of the rare occasions that I'm listening to the radio. But I've heard it entirely too many times to actively seek it out. Also in that category is everything on the first Boston album. Classic Rock Radio, even after approximately 40 years have passed since its release, still play that album's music like it was currently topping the charts. The only song from that admittedly great album to make my list was "More Than A Feeling", which I still love, but it ranked much lower that it would've if it were a little fresher to my ears.
Dunno, can't explain it. There are others that have been played to death but still ranked high on my lists.
As far as "other reasons", there are a number of pieces of music that aren't on the list because I decided to stick with pop and rock music released since my birth. I found it too hard to compare classical, big band, Show tunes, standards, and so on, with pop and rock. Otherwise you'd see Beethoven's 7th, 2nd movement, and Duke Ellington's Take The A Train on the list, among others. At some point I may post some of these for the heckuvit...
Then there are others that I really like a lot but only listen to once in a while, because I have to be in the mood for it. Here's one of them. Very eccentric, which sorta describes this band as a whole. This is the live version, which I prefer to the studio one. The musicianship is mind boggling. They veer off on crazed tangents then return to the main riff all together without missing a step. The first time I heard this, I lost track of how many times I said "WHOA!" I can't imagine how much rehearsal time it took to pull this off.
