The Boney 500: Album #36
Posted: Fri Nov 04, 2016 9:32 am
Last album for the week. 35 to go, starting on Monday.
36. EAT A PEACH-ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND (1972)
Take out the laborious 33-minute "Mountain Jam", which ran across TWO whole sides on the original 2-record set, and you got one
hell of an album..one that might even have made my top 20. The free and easy "Blue Sky", the beautifully moody "Melissa", the
funky Southern rock of "Ain't Wastin' Time No More" and "Stand Back"..and the live tracks left over from the Fillmore
East recordings, the outstanding blues-rockers "Trouble No More" and "One Way Out". But sorry, Allman purists...to this day
I hit the skip button on the cd player when "Mountain Jam" comes up. I won't hold it against you if you do the same. This is an
audio link only. You'll have to click on the arrow to the left of the first song title to listen..it should automatically play each song
after that (if not, just click on the next song to start it up).
