It's only November 3rd....
and the radio station from Grand Rapids that does this every year is ALREADY playing holiday music. UGH!!!! I haven't had turkey dinner or my birthday cake yet. Couldn't they wait a few days-like after the election?
I'm just a game show nerd.

The radio station here is actually surveying its listeners.
I've already seen some decorations, though. My youngest grandson turns 3 on Nov. 26. He can't wait for his birthday, but he has no idea what comes next. Please let us know when you would like for us to start playing Christmas music this year:
- Right Now
- November 1st
- November 15th
- Thanksgiving
- December 1st
- December 15th
- December 24th

Yeah, the rule is that you're not supposed to be talking about Christmas or playing Christmas music or putting up Christmas decorations until the day after Thanksgiving. It's like talking about the 2020 presidential election long before the 2016 presidential election even occurs--which the idiots at FAUX News and other media outlets have already done.
"[Drumpf's] name alone creates division and anger, whose words inspire dissension and hatred, and can't possibly 'Make America Great Again.'" --Kobe Bryant (1978-2020)

I'm pretty sure that this was my Mom's rule. Every time I asked about Christimas as a child she told me that you don't start getting ready for Christmas until Santa arrives in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.Estonut wrote:It's still up from last year...Vandal wrote:Go decorate your holiday tree.Estonut wrote:Not me. I swear to God that this is a true story in my families history:Estonut wrote:But, Mommy! Starting in the 50's the Christmas 'tradition' in our house was for there to be no evidence of Christmas until
Santa came on Christmas Eve. No presents. No decorations. No lights. Not even a Christmas tree. Mom and Dad would put the kids to bed on Christmas Eve and then proceed to create all that "Christmas magic" ready for a joyous Christmas morning.
Frankly, Mom and Dad were usually pretty cranky on Christmas morning.
As the youngest of three kids, I got in on the tail end of this and saw it get modified each year. I remember having the outside lights set up on the house and a tree (undecorated) set up in place in the family room. By the time I was in grade school all the Christmas preparations would start after Thanksgiving (but there were NO gifts under the tree except for gifts from us kids to others)
I remember as an adult having a conversation with my Dad about this where he said that those early years around the holidays were some of the most stupid things they could have ever done.
