The Boney 500: Album #51

The weekend is almost here, but today you still have to listen to the boss...
51. DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN-BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN (1978)
The Boss followed up his masterpiece "Born To Run" with this, considerably more somber in tone. Oh, there's still a lot of
rockin' goin' on, but the desperation is more palpable here than in its predecessor. Bruce packs a wallop on anthems like
"Badlands" and "The Promised Land", turns up the intensity with tracks like "Adam Raised A Cain" and the title track, and
gives some great vocal performances on the dramatic "Candy's Room" and on my favorite song on the album, "Prove It All Night".
It's almost as good as "Born To Run". Almost. But that's still saying a lot.
When the countdown resumes on Monday, we will enter the Top 50 on the album list.
