104. SOLSBURY HILL-PETER GABRIEL (1977)
Album: Peter Gabriel

Written about his decision to leave Genesis, the rolling acoustic guitar lines and thumping bass drum support this lovely
song. Its sound is offbeat yet very pleasing.

103. SO VERY HARD TO GO-TOWER OF POWER (1973)
Album: Tower Of Power

One of the very finest soul ballads of all time in my opinion...certainly one of the most underappreciated. The mighty
horn section adds weight to the emotion of the song, and the powerhouse vocal by Lenny Williams is tremendous.

Good memories with this one. I was 15. My dad had a store in San Marcus and I worked for him that summer. I commuted with him to and from San Marcos daily from our house in northwest Austin and we'd listen to the radio the whole time on the road. All the music of that summer brings back working at Mustang Electric, and my dad.
Other songs from that period: Diana Ross - Touch Me in the Morning, Rufus - Tell Me Something Good, Stories - Brother Louie, Doobies - Long Train Running, Sly & the Family Stone - If you want me to stay.

A lot of soul.
