Two more for the list. One is silky and soulful, the other is full steam ahead ROCK!

106. EVERY KINDA PEOPLE-ROBERT PALMER (1978)
Album: Double Fun

Classy pop from a classy vocalist. The guitar and bass setting up the groove, the steel drum sound adding a tropical
island vibe, and Palmer's outstanding voice. It's a winning combination.

105. HIGHWAY STAR-DEEP PURPLE (1972)
Album: Machine Head

Ritchie Blackmore really goes to work on his guitar, those massive Jon Lord keyboards power the Purple engine as usual,
Roger Glover on bass and Ian Paice provide the foundation, and Ian Gillan makes his case as one of the greatest hard rock
vocalists ever. Another one that automatically adds 20MPH to your speedometer when it comes on the car stereo. In fact, it was this
song that was responsible for getting me pulled over one day years ago. When asked by the law enforcement representative
why I was in such a hurry, I decided to tell the truth. I explained that a great song came on the stereo, and I got
kinda caught up in it. He said "yeah? What song was it?" I answered "Highway Star" by Deep Purple. He paused for a moment,
then handed me back my I.D. and said "Good song. Slow down" and let me go. Apparently he was a Purple fan too. And in an
extremely benevolent mood.

Mine is not a getting-pulled-over story, but I once was so sleepy I should not have been driving, and Boston's "Don't Look Back," cranked to 11, woke me up enough to get through the sleepy phase and arrive safely.

That is a great Palmer song.

Now, why am I so familiar with Highway Star? Because my big brother had that album! He loved it to death.
