crossed one item off my bucket list

#1 Post by Kazoo65 » Sun Oct 02, 2016 4:55 pm

I got to see 1776 performed live last night. It was great!! A neat twist was that they started the show by showing video clips of the current election, featuring Hillary, Donald Trupm, and Bernie Sanders. Then they kept going backward in time, until we saw the stage that was set to look like Independence Hall way back then.

The brother of one of my trivia teammates in in the show. 22 of us went to support him.

Now I want to get on J! (will take the online test Tueaday) and serve on a jury. There are a couple huge court cases coming up here that I'd love to serve on.
I'm just a game show nerd.

1776 was the first stage show I ever saw and it got me hooked. It was around 1971, I was six years old, and it was a brutal hot night at an outdoor theatre in Berlin NJ and featured Hugh O'Brian as John Adams. The show was performed in the round and I absolutely fell in love with the show and musical theatre generally. Mr. O'brian came out on stage afterwarsds and talked with the audience and joked how it really was almost hot enough to hatch a stone. It is still one of my favorite shows and I make the film part of my annual JUly 4th commemoration. Interesting trivia tidbit about the show - it holds the record for the longest time between songs for a musical. Between "The Lees of Old Virginia" and "But Mr. Adams" is approximately 20 minutes.
You live and learn. Or at least you live. - Douglas Adams
