Last two songs for the week. The countdown resumes on Monday.
142. WHOLE LOTTA LOVE-LED ZEPPELIN (1969)
Album: Led Zeppelin II
OK, maybe it's way overplayed. There are two reasons I will never change the station when it comes on,
and why I will always crank it up if it's in my cd player or iPod dock:
#1-That riff. That monstrous Jimmy Page riff.
#2-John Bonham's drumming. Especially the part where, after Robert Plant goes through his "wayyyy downnn
insiiiiide" bit, Bonham leads the group into the final attack by hitting those drums so hard he shoulda
been arrested for assault (at 4:25 in). YESSIR!
141. MINUTE BY MINUTE-THE DOOBIE BROTHERS (1978)
Album: Minute By Minute
Slinky and soulful, the keyboards, bass, and drums all working together to lay down a classy groove,
precision rhythmic harmonies supporting a stellar lead vocal. All part of a winning formula.
