With today's entry, we reach the halfway mark on the album side. This artist has been as unpredictable as anyone in his 50-year career, and he still marches to the beat of his own drum to this day.

76. HARVEST-NEIL YOUNG (1972)

The most "rural" sounding of his early albums, the period of Young's career I like best. True, he does unleash his raw
guitar on a couple of tracks, and a full orchestra on a couple others, but the tone of "Harvest" is more represented
by the countryvibes of the title track, "Out On The Weekend", and the hits "Old Man" and "Heart of Gold". It is,
overall, a mellow album, and a good one.

I guy I work with has been to scads of concerts and says the best he's ever seen is Neil Young. Much of the concert was Neil and his guitar and harmonica and it was (according to guy at work) just phenomenal. Many of those songs were from Harvest.

He doesn't have a great voice, but he knows his range and plays to his strengths. Harvest is good stuff.

His guitar solos are often of the one or two-note variety, as well LOL. See: Cinammon Girl, Down By The River, etc. Yet somehow he makes it work. He is a unique one, that's for sure.

I do a pretty funny Neil Young, btw. Although he's not so hard to do.

Jimmy Fallon's Neil is uncanny, however.
