Now that's how you handle a gaffe

#1 Post by Bob78164 » Thu Sep 08, 2016 7:21 pm

During a televised interview today, Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson responded to the question, "What about Aleppo?" by himself asking "What is Aleppo?" This is a clear gaffe by a presidential candidate hoping to get into the debates starting later this month.

Afterward, Governor Johnson released a statement explaining, essentially, that he was thinking acronym and had a brain cramp. I'm still not voting for him. But his statement did earn some respect from me. And I'm guessing it will more or less put the story to bed. --Bob

Too bad he didn't have an earpiece so his team could have coached him in real-time.

Are you referring to the false and debunked rumor that Secretary Clinton was wearing an earpiece during last night's forum?

Well, it's the same photo that was analyzed and debunked by Snopes in the previous post. What do I win?

I know it's the same photo, that's where I first saw it. I noticed Bob failed to include that one in his post. The "debunking" by Snopes is among the worst I've ever seen them do. It's not valid because they cropped the pic and then enlarged it? I spot-checked the first 10 minutes of my recording and see the white thing in her ear several times. Is it not possible she felt it and pushed it back into place? That could make it not appear on later pictures.

Gov. Johnson would have been better off just answering "I don't know" because that's really the only correct answer to the Aleppo issue. A murderous dictator to the left of me, ISIS to the right... and here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Gov. Johnson is way ahead of his nemesis Jill Stein. She faces criminal charges for civil disobedience. That may appeal to her base, but it doesn't help her to be a serious third party (or even fourth-party) candidate.

That sounds like a compliment to me.

I believe you. And I'm not surprised.
