The Boney 500: Songs 204-201

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Fri Aug 05, 2016 11:31 am

Starting on Monday, when we enter my Top 200, the number of songs revealed each day will be reduced to two, then when we get to the Top 10, down to one per day. If I have calculated correctly, my #1 favorite song of all time will be unveiled on the last Friday of the year.

For now, let's close out Week 10 of the countdown with one song each from the 60's, 70's, & 80's (although not in that order)....

203. LONG LONG TIME-LINDA RONSTADT (1970)
Album: Silk Purse

A while back on this list I had Ronstadt's "Love Has No Pride", which is a sad song indeed. However, that one
is sunshine and lollipops compared to this one, which has got to be one of the most heartbreaking performances
ever. Poor Linda practically drips tears out of the stereo on this record. I'm telling you, the guy that broke
her heart here is a first class idiot.

202. LIMELIGHT-RUSH (1981)
Album: Moving Pictures

Can't say I'm a huge Rush fan, although I do like some of their songs and appreciate their legacy. I love this
one, though. Lyrically, it deals with the difficulties of stardom and its intrususion on private lives. Musically,
it rocks to a powerful climax.

201. SAVE YOUR HEART FOR ME-GARY LEWIS & THE PLAYBOYS (1965)
Album: A Session With Gary Lewis & The Playboys

One of those things I can't explain my love for. Yes, it's lightweight and Lewis is multitracked to cover the weakness
of his voice. Yet it's so amiable and wistful..well, I've always had a soft spot for it. Like I said, can't explain it.
