Week 10 begins...
105. JAMES TAYLOR-JAMES TAYLOR (1968)
Late in '68, Taylor's first album was released on The Beatles' Apple Records, the first non-British release on
that label. It was produced by Peter Asher, who signed Taylor to Apple and soon would become his manager, as well
as Linda Ronstadt's (Asher was the "Peter" of Peter & Gordon, 60's hitmakers. His sister Jane was once
engaged to Paul McCartney). Wonderful songs like "Carolina In My Mind" (with McCartney on bass and an uncredited
George Harrison contributing as well) and "Something In The Way She Moves" remain staples of JT's concerts to this
day and prove that he was a songwriting force to be reckoned with from the onset.
