GOT THE CALL!!!

#1 Post by triviawayne » Fri Jul 22, 2016 8:27 am

Of course they move to Vegas and then they decide to call...

My wife and I have both been unsuccessful in starting businesses this past year and it has put us under massive debt. The cards are maxed out and I don't have the money to make the trip. Below is my gofundme link.

I am also taking applications for a plus one. I have a few people in mind, but in case they can't make it, I need backups.

Congrats!

Look into Southwest. There have to be *some* "normal" motels somewhere near Vegas. If I couldn't find one I'd camp, but I do that anyway. Maybe not something that puts you in the proper state of mind for playing, though.

That's the day I drive there for TCONA. The Flamingo (where TCONA is) is $50/night.

Im happy to be an emergency Plus One. I work for United (my buddy passes are used up or else I'd give you two.. sorry!) and can be there in a moments notice.

The Bally's link on the millionaire website shows discounted rates between 35-47 bucks for many days that month.. have you looked at that?

I'm surprised Bally's isn't taking this opportunity to provide free lodging to contestants.

They took the opportunity to give a 20% discount not only to contestants but also ticket holders

If you get bumped to Friday I'll blow-off whatever I was going to do at TCONA and be your plus one.

I'm guessing that this is the "joke of the day". Not only are you going to have to pay $50+ a night for a room, tack on another $25-$30 a night for their "Resort Fees". Plan on about $75-$100 a night total for a room on the strip unless you have comps built up (you may still have to pay the Resort Fees too).

Discount is not just for contestants, it is also for ticketholders. Of course tickets are free and all one needs to do is sign up online and print the ticket, I suspect the hotel doesn't ask for proof of attendance.

I'm staying six nights and total cost is $648.25

So you'll be there during TCONA? You should stop by.

I'm staying six nights BECAUSE of TCONA.

I'm registering tomorrow, and yesterday joined a quiz bowl team.

I will be in town for TCONA, but I only land Thursday morning at around 10:30. I would assume you would need someone earlier than that, otherwise I would be willing to be a +1.

That's certainly standard fare for Las Vegas. I just got back from my yearly visit myself. That said, even Strip properties have no problem offering up free rooms to their preferred customers, at least during the week. If I book now, I can get two complementary weeknights at Bally's, and I'm not a high roller by any stretch of the imagination.

Bally's is one of the cheaper hotels owned by Caesar's Entertainment, along with The Flamingo and Harrah's. Higher end, think Caesar's Palace or Planet Hollywood. It wouldn't be too hard for them to say "We'll give your contestants free rooms at Bally's if you mention our name at least once per episode."
