The Boney 500: Songs 236-234

236. ALL I KNOW-ART GARFUNKEL (1973)
Album: Angel Claire

From Art's first solo album. When he wraps his voice around a pretty song, there aren't
many who can touch him. When nobody was looking back in my headbanging days, I'd play
this and embrace my sensitive side lol.

235. GIRL ON A SWING-GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS (1966)
Album:

Their last Top 40 hit in the U.S. Another one I'm at a loss to explain just what makes this one so
special to my ears. Part of it may be that I was not able to get this 45 at my local record stores back when
it was on the radio. It wasn't until years later that I finally found a copy, so maybe it's that I couldn't
get it back then, making me want it even more. I can't contend that there's anything special about it musically,
other than an appealing innocence, but it's special to me, anyway.

234. SURFER GIRL-THE BEACH BOYS (1963)
Album: Surfer Girl

Simple and sweet melody with incredibly lovely singing. The harmonies are not quite as
intricate as they would become, but the groundwork is certainly laid here. Brian Wilson
wrote this in 1961 when he was 19.

Oh, wow! I've got this song on their "Sounds of Summer" compilation album!

That makes two, so far.

For some reason, we were talking about "There is love" being sung at weddings a lot. I've heard "All I know" quite a bit too.

Brian Wilson was a genius, no doubt about it. I look forward to more Beach Boys songs in the countdown.
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller
