Lyrically Speaking: Come and Get It

Okay, since I apparently produced a lot of deer-in-headlights looks yesterday, today's theme will be a lot simpler. You'll probably be able to figure it out if you only get one song.

1. Listen! Red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up

2. Watch the jingle jangle start to chime
Reflections of the music that is mine
When you drop a coin you'll hear it sing

3. Step from the road to the sea to the sky
And I do believe that we rely on
When I lay it on
Come get to play it on
All my life to sacrifice

4. Life can be short or long
Love can be right or wrong
And if I chose the one
I'd like to help me through

5. Times have changed for sailors these days
When I'm in port I get what I need
Not just havanas or bananas or daiquiris
But that American creation on which I feed

6. Beatniks and politics, nothing is new
A yardstick for lunatics, one point of view

7. A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together
Chasing the moonlight

8. Swingin' in the living room
Swingin' in the kitchen
Most folks don't 'cause
They're too busy bitchin'

9. Can't wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I'll tear my heart out
Before I get out

10. Before her love
I was cruel and mean
I had a hole in the place
Where my heart should have been

Bonus: Identify today's theme.

Double Bonus: What famous singer did a cover version of song #2 in a children's animated movie, and what was the movie?

Final Bonus: Which financial genius does the singer of song #5 call his uncle?

Oooooh, so close!

Bonus: Identify today's theme.

The theme is...uhhh...music! Words recited rhythmically, in accompaniment to sounds produced on a variety of instruments designed for the purpose.

Well, I'd have never gotten the Harry Potter reference anyway since I'm about the only person on earth who hasn't read any of that crap, but at least you discovered that there isn't much of a convergence between the crowd who plays LS and the crowd who plays Tangredi's puzzlers....

1. Listen! Red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up
Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard (Summer of '88, baby!)

2. Watch the jingle jangle start to chime
Reflections of the music that is mine
When you drop a coin you'll hear it sing
Green Tamborine - The Lemon Pipers? (Something like that....)

3. Step from the road to the sea to the sky
And I do believe that we rely on
When I lay it on
Come get to play it on
All my life to sacrifice

4. Life can be short or long
Love can be right or wrong
And if I chose the one
I'd like to help me through

5. Times have changed for sailors these days
When I'm in port I get what I need
Not just havanas or bananas or daiquiris
But that American creation on which I feed
Cheeseburger in Paradise - Jimmy Buffett (Dedicated to Beebs' pooch...)

6. Beatniks and politics, nothing is new
A yardstick for lunatics, one point of view
Incense & Peppermints - Strawberry Alarm Clock

7. A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together
Chasing the moonlight

8. Swingin' in the living room
Swingin' in the kitchen
Most folks don't 'cause
They're too busy bitchin'
Given the theme and the swinging references, I'll say Cherry Pie - Warrant

9. Can't wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I'll tear my heart out
Before I get out

10. Before her love
I was cruel and mean
I had a hole in the place
Where my heart should have been

Bonus: Identify today's theme. - Food, glorious food

Double Bonus: What famous singer did a cover version of song #2 in a children's animated movie, and what was the movie?

Final Bonus: Which financial genius does the singer of song #5 call his uncle? - Warren Buffett (who is HoltDad's rich uncle and is somewhere in BobJuch's family tree....)

Yay for simpler! I'm at least getting the half I need on most of these...

1. Listen! Red light, yellow light, green-a-light go!
Crazy little woman in a one man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up

Pour Some Sugar on Me, Def Leppard (And the Shook-up Ramen works, too!)

2. Watch the jingle jangle start to chime
Reflections of the music that is mine
When you drop a coin you'll hear it sing

Familiar

3. Step from the road to the sea to the sky
And I do believe that we rely on
When I lay it on
Come get to play it on
All my life to sacrifice

Nope

4. Life can be short or long
Love can be right or wrong
And if I chose the one
I'd like to help me through

I hear Bread, but I don't think it's Baby, I'm-a Want You

5. Times have changed for sailors these days
When I'm in port I get what I need
Not just havanas or bananas or daiquiris
But that American creation on which I feed

Cheeseburger in Paradise, Jimmy Buffett

6. Beatniks and politics, nothing is new
A yardstick for lunatics, one point of view

Incense and Peppermint? Don't know by whom.

7. A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together
Chasing the moonlight

Cinnamon Girl, Neil Young

8. Swingin' in the living room
Swingin' in the kitchen
Most folks don't 'cause
They're too busy bitchin'

Nope

9. Can't wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I'll tear my heart out
Before I get out

Familiar

10. Before her love
I was cruel and mean
I had a hole in the place
Where my heart should have been

This is like the ultimate pop song. I love it! Go All the Way, I thought it was Eric Carmen, so it must be the Raspberries.

Bonus: Identify today's theme.

You're making me hungry! Food. Now I need breakfast.

Double Bonus: What famous singer did a cover version of song #2 in a children's animated movie, and what was the movie?

Oh, great. I would totally get this if I knew the song. ACK!

Final Bonus: Which financial genius does the singer of song #5 call his uncle?

Really? He's related to Warren Buffett? Cool!

6. Beatniks and politics, nothing is new
A yardstick for lunatics, one point of view
Incense and Peppermints - Strawberry Alarm Clock. One day in the frat house in the fall of '87, WNEW-FM had the guy behind Strawberry Alarm Clock on the radio apologizing for what even he admitted was an atrocity.

7. A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together
Chasing the moonlight
Embarrassingly, I spent a long time wracking my brain to why Rock You Like a Hurricane had anything to do with food. Then I had to hum it to myself about 40 times before I realized what it really was. The most embarrassing part? This whole time, Powderfinger's been on my iPod. Cinnamon Girl - Neil Young

Food items mentioned in the artist name or song title.

Double Bonus: What famous singer did a cover version of song #2 in a children's animated movie, and what was the movie?
Robert Goulet, "Disney's Recess: School's Out". Goulet always provided the singing voice for Mikey, and the "School's Out" movie was full of 60s songs. There were a lot of references that I got that the kids didn't. An animated video of Goulet's version of "Green Tambourine" can be found here:

Final Bonus: Which financial genius does the singer of song #5 call his uncle?
Warren Buffett. Jimmy calls him "Uncle Warren", while Warren calls him "Cousin Jimmy". They've tried to trace their family name back to see if they were actually related, but there were unable to find conclusive evidence either way.

I think you should deduct a point from my score since I didn't put an 's' on the end of Peppermint. But I'm glad you're not one of those nitpicky perfectionist type Meisters!
