Declaration of War (NON-POLITICAL)
Donald Trump commented the other day that if he gets elected he intends to ask Congress for a declaration of war against global terrorism. That got me to thinking. I know that many countries declared war against others in World War II, and the US has never formerly declared war since then. I'm wondering if anyone knows the answer to this. Has any country formally declared war against any other country since World War II? If so, who and when?

Iraq declared war on Iran on Sept. 22, 1980.
In many other cases, one side won't admit that the other side is a real country. In 1948, five Arab nations declared war on "occupied Palestine."

LBJ declared war on poverty.
Reagan declared war on drugs.
Both have been resounding failures. Probably because both poverty and drugs refused to wear uniforms and abide by the Geneva Convention. I'm sure Trump's war on global terrorism will see a similar success.

Sorry, I'm a "make love, not war" kinda guy..although I do like some of War's songs, nothing made the cut.
And neither did the Edwin Starr song, for that matter..it is on my iPod, though.
