The word out there right now is that two snipers, from elevated positions, have shot 10 officers, and three are reported dead.

This was, I believe a #BlackLivesMatter protest that started around 7pm locally, and had been proceeding very peacefully (officers there for crowd control were posing for pictures with protestors) until around 9pm CDT, when someone started firing.

If you are a sniper who when cornered tells police that you have bombs planted around town & presumably with you as well, expect to be blown up yourself by the police robot-with-its-own-bomb.

I wonder why it wasn't robot-with-remote-control-rifle, but I'm not up on the latest tactical stuff.

I guess that's what we "learn from this".

No peaceful demonstration is immune from evil people making whatever point they think they are making. And shooting civilians as well as their targets, in this case on the police force.

Probably the only reason the killer in Orlando wasn't bombed as well is that he had hostages near him. This one didn't.

For some reason, the news is talking only about the shooter who was killed and absolutely nothing about the suspects they have in custody.

You can thank our Racist in Chief. At the memorial for the fallen Dallas officers he all but excused the executions as a result of what took place in Baton Rouge the previous week (when that thug with an illegal gun forced the police to attempt to physically restrain him and he continued to fight them until they felt their lives threatened).

What do you think the odds are he'll be invited to the Baton Rouge officers' memorial?

I've seen the footage of Alton Sterling's killing, both the official police video and the more complete account provided by the store's security camera. Your description is not consistent with the video evidence, which is probably why the store owner didn't mention the existence of that footage to the police until after he had made it safely public.

I followed President Obama's remarks at the time. He said nothing that was even close to what you're suggesting.

You know whom I hold responsible for the shootings of Baton Rouge police officers today? The person who pulled the trigger. I am, however, willing to award an honorable mention to the people who made it far too easy for him to acquire a gun. I will be interested to know whether the shooter was in legal possession of a gun. I'll be even more interested to know whether he should have been. --Bob

From his first anti-police comments about them "acting stupidly", to "if I had a son he'd look like Trevon", to turning the white house purple when Prince died of a drug overdose and refusing to turn it blue to honor the fallen police serving and protecting people, to his bringing up the police shootings that likely motivated the shooter at their memorial, this man has done more to damage race relations in this country than the KKK ever had.

Why does that matter? What if he'd just rented a big truck and drove through a line of officers standing outside a coffee shop?

Chances are he had the weapon illegally. Chances are he was already a felon unable to legally possess a firearm, like Alton Sterling.

Follow up: Doesn't look like he was a felon. They are identifying him as Gavin Long, 29 year-old black man, former marine. He had posted on the internet his praise of the Dallas shooter.

You have not.

1) There is no "official police video"
2) The store's entire surveillance system was confiscated by the investigators. The store owner has not seen the video and is suing to get his equipment back. I wonder where you saw the video from the security camera.

Ah, I see. The store owner used his cell phone to capture the footage I had in mind, and neglected to volunteer to the cops that he had it. The cops did seize his security camera's footage without a warrant.

I guess the Cleveland Police Department isn't as smart as BiT. They are trying to get the open carry law suspended for this next week for the Republican convention. You would think they would want as many law abiding citizens with guns as possible around as possible to make their job easier. After all, if only there had been trained good guys with guns around, those shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge wouldn't have happened. Oh, wait...

He was a member of the Sovereign Citizen movement.
