RIP Lois Lane

Noel Neill, who played Superman's girlfriend in movies and TV from 1948 to 1958, died Sunday. Lois, I mean Noel, was 95.

She also played Lois's mom in the 1979 Superman movie. In a scene originally cut in the theatrical version, she is on the train going through Smallville as the teen Clark Kent runs alongside it, and chides the young Lois for having a "reporter's imagination."

And she appeared in "Superman Returns" as Lex Luthor's dying wife.

So, Phyllis Coates is now the only surviving cast member (Lois in the first season).

Noel retired from acting after the series ended, except for these cameo appearances in various Superman projects. She also played Lois' mother in an episode of the 90's TV series with Teri Hatcher.

Phyllis Coates played mother to Teri Hatcher's Lois.
