She is as much a legend in her sport as Bear Bryant or Adolph Rupp were in theirs.

She did pass away early this morning.
Here in Knoxville, there is a huge memorial service planned for Friday - lots of orange.
Coach Summit was every bit as intense a person as she has been portrayed in the media. I first met her in the early 80's when she first started coaching the Lady Vols. In later years I would see her a the soccer fields where she was there for her son's game. I was always impressed that someone who was a professional coach also had the wisdom to just stand on the sidelines and simply be a parent while watching her son play soccer.
She will be buried in middle Tennessee but will always be a part of Knoxville.

She is responsible for a lot of the status that women's college basketball enjoys today. Definitely a great coach.
