Indy Auditions

Hello everyone, A newbie here.

I auditioned in Indy 6/13 along with a few members from here. Of course I wasn't wise enough to remember their names. I know one of them was Greg from the Chicago area who loaned me his lucky pencil to take my test with.
It worked because I passed the written test. And then proceeded to the video interview with Liz.
Any way, as seems to be standard operating procedure, I was told "you'll get an email from us in a week saying either Congratulations! or Thanks for auditioning, but ... "
As it approaches 10 days since the audition and still no email from them, I'm starting to wonder if anyone else who auditioned and got to the video interview at the Indianapolis auditions has heard back from WWTBAM yet?
Do I just need to be more patient ... sometimes it takes longer than a week?
Or have others already heard back, in which case I either gave them my email address incorrectly, or they entered it in wrong?
Having never gotten an email from them I don't know if there's a time restriction ... i.e., "Congratulations, you've made the player pool. You have 24 hours to verify this email."

They might take a bit to get your email out, don't worry. From Indy, they went to Philly and then NYC before going back across the country...on the road.

There's a lot of work to do with moving the studio this year, so it just might take more time than normal. I've heard of some getting an email the next day in past years instead of waiting two weeks.

I don't know if the test was easier this time around or not, but there seemed to be a larger percentage of passers when I was there in Philly, so if that's the case everywhere, that could be another reason it will take longer for those emails to go out.

You will not have to reply to the email when it comes, and they will contact you by phone to be a contestant; so even if you wrote the wrong email address, you'll be fine.

Also, check the spam filter, they tend to send out a single email to many people with the notification.

I see that they are still crisscrossing the country and still have Seattle to go to yet. Figured it was likely just busy for them, but there's always that little voice of paranoia.

I auditioned in Philly on June 15 (just for fun, since I'll never be a Millionaire contestant again) and got an email this afternoon, nine days later.

Audition details if anyone cares

Arrived at Parx Casino shortly after 9 a.m. after an hour-long traffic jam. Audition rooms were off the casino floor, so they meant it when they said you have to be over 21. Line was shorter than they would be later. A pleasant surprise: Everyone who auditioned got free gambling credits!

Test was easier than in past years, if I remember right. Out of 30 questions, I was sure of about 25. Filled out the audition form while waiting for my interview. Didn't answer every question as written; just thought of some good stories and found questions to put them under. Interviewers were very enthusiastic with everyone. Mine must have liked me because we talked for quite a while. Showed her a couple of photos on my iPhone to illustrate my stories. Then she gave me a release to sign and told me to wait for a video interview.

Very long wait for the one girl giving the video interviews. Fortunately, the slot machines were right there. They gave me $15 for signing up for a club card and $10 for auditioning, and I won another $21! Lucky day all around.

The video interview seemed short, so I thought I'd be rejected, but today I got the email! My advice: be persistent. I tried out so many times I lost count, but eventually I made it. Have fun; it's not a job interview. Enjoy the experience, and if you get in the pool, it's a bonus.

Hmmmm ... see that just makes me wonder even more. So your interview was the 15th, mine was the 13th. You've already heard back and here I am still waiting in limbo.
I had a very similar experience though with the Audition process. Was pretty sure I got 29 out of 30 questions right.
My initial interview went well also. As with you, I thought the video interview was fairly short, but I thought I did a pretty good job.

Perhaps I'm in that "maybe folder" ... haven't gotten the outright denial, but my "wow" factor may be lacking a bit so haven't gotten the sure fire "you're in" thumbs up either.

Frustrating is all. I wouldn't even be upset with the "Thanks for your interest" email, just means to try again another day. It's the "limbo" that is killing me.

jarnon, I don't understand your audition report. Did you really go through the whole audition process, this month--and get the Happy E-mail as a result--without filling out the part of the questionaire that said you have already been a contestant on the show?

Yes, I filled it out. Guess they don't read the form all that closely.

OK, I need to ask since I had a strange experience at my audition:

When my interviewer said he was putting me through to the on camera interview, he gave me very specific instructions on how to be on camera--that never happened before. Did anyone else get this?

Not having auditioned before I can't say that it was "new" or unusual ... but my guy did the same thing. I.e, he "coached" me. "Okay, when you get in there you'll want to be exciting and bubbly and smile" that sort of thing.

But I kind of figured that's what I'd want to come across as anyway.

Nothing we don't already know, be enthusiastic on camera, answer the questions as if you're actually on the show (don't just give the answer, but talk it out), etc.

I got similar "coaching" in PHL after signing the form, similar to what other users reported. I had a really comfortable talk beforehand, and it felt like a genuine "person-to-person" conversation rather than an interview. Great guy. I was also told that the "2nd interview" wasn't advertised and to keep quiet about it. But that's all common knowledge here (so please don't banish me if you're reading this, producers).

The advice itself probably seems obvious to read here, but was super helpful to be reminded of in the heat of the moment. Ignore the camera, be ultra-high energy, and talk through your answers even if you know it (rather than just spouting them out). Showbiz stuff. "I want to say B, but I just saw an article about A....". My guess is that the test and 1st interview take care of the individual smart/personality components, and the 2nd is to make sure you can do both of those simultaneously (and on-camera).

Other than that they meet in Vegas, 'BAM's new home, what use would 'BAM have for a crew of trivia nerds who will surely pass the trivia test & flunk the bubbly-enough test. Maybe a few trivia geeks will be both sufficiently nubile/virile & bubbly.
