The Boney 500: Songs 335-333

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Mon Jun 06, 2016 9:14 am

Here are today's three entries:

335. MONA LISAS AND MAD HATTERS-ELTON JOHN (1972)
Album: Honky Chateau

One of those songs that have grown on me over the years. An understated arrangement
allows the song to have a maximum effect.

334. THE STORY IN YOUR EYES-MOODY BLUES (1971)
Album: Every Good Boy Deserves Favour

The music rocks, the lyrics slightly ominous, but the melody is very accessible. Not
easy to pull that off AND hit the Top 40 charts in the process!

333. UNCHAINED MELODY-RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS (1965)
Album: Just Once In My Life

Probably take this one a little for granted since I've heard it about 3 million times,
thus it's ranked lower than it would be on a lot of people's lists. Still, there's no
denying the power and beauty of this arrangement, and of course, Bobby Hatfield's
magnificent vocal.

And another shout out to Life on Mars. The closing music to the abbreviated series finale.

War is where the government tells you who the bad guy is.
Revolution is when you decide that for yourself.

Three wonderful songs -- I probably never would have heard that Elton John song if not for this. Thanks!
