The Boney 500: Songs 338-336

Here are my final three songs for the week. We'll continue with songs 335-333 on Monday.
338. WHAT IS LIFE-GEORGE HARRISON (1970)
Album: All Things Must Pass
One of those songs that make it darn hard to be or stay in a bad mood when you
hear it. Such a bright, cheerful sound that it almost seems like it should be a
Ringo song. But no, it's a George song, and a great one, too.
337.THE NIGHT BEFORE-THE BEATLES (1965)
Album: Help!
A rollicking number from the Beatles' second movie, it's the first of many (yeah,
I know, big surprise) Beatles' tunes on the list. Not one of the group's creative
benchmarks, just a fun little romp. Unfortunately I can't post the original, as
Youtube has taken it down, but this rendition, live at the BBC, is pretty faithful
to the original.
336. LIFE ON MARS?-DAVID BOWIE (1971)
Album: Hunky Dory
You wouldn't guess it from the song's title, but this is a stunningly beautiful
song, complete with unusual chord progressions and melodic u-turns. Just wow.
