Ditto the thoughts.
I hope both sides will allow a little time and space before renewing the debate/discussion/arguments about oil sand harvesting.
Goodness gracious, wildfires in Canada.

I hope everybody gets out. I wish they'd let them take their belongings but I understand why speed is of the essence here.

Most had enough time to grab a few things, but the fire is spreading so fast, that, as you say, speed was of the essence. I know there are some great stories on the news about things people saved, a portable safe with all their id in it, one man grabbed his divorce decree lol, and one woman grabbed her 2 cats, dog, and also 3 other neighbours pets.
Keep hoping for rain, as human firefighting is not cutting it right now.

Indeed. Really hate it when human tragedy is exploited for political purposes by ANY group. Let's just worry about the people for now.

Can see major smoke in the air here (may be a combination of fieldwork dust and smoke)-weird thing is that I can't smell it here-but 10 miles northwest could smell major forest fire smoke. It smells like a really strong campfire.
We are a long ways from the affected area (western Minnesota) but in a direct angle may not really be that far. Plus there may be other fires twixt here and there.

They have to repeatedly close I-10 east of here becaue of blowing dust. The major culpret is a huge future pecan farm. They plowed up everything and we haven't had rain in a couple of months. There's a 10% and 20% chance of rain this weekend.

Per Mrs S-News reports are that the haze in the air is from the Alberta fires, However, the smoke that we can smell is from fires in northern Minnesota.
Still weird that I could not smell the smoke here-but could smell it ten miles away from here.
