SGT. JOHN CHARLTON HOLLADAY USMC Sgt. John Charlton Holladay, USMC was killed in action during World War II by a Japanese sniper on July 20, 1943 at Bairoko Harbor on New Georgia Island in the Soloman Islands. After more than 72 years, his remains were found on February 24, 2015, were properly identified on July 30, 2015 through modern DNA technology and are being returned home for burial
