Knee replacement surgery tomorrow. She hasn't had surgery since tonsillectomy at age 7. She is now ever so much more than 7 and is supremely afraid of the operation. I am being as supportive and upbeat as possible. It ain't helpin'. Please send the vibes toward an area north and west of Boston starting around 3 PM EDT.
Gotta go and be supportive. Will let you know what happens, but I won't be home until 11 PM at the earliest. Thank you in advance.

Vibes enroute. Make sure she's up & walking ASAP & no ice packs. Very seriously.

Thanks, all. She is doing very, very well. Walked 100 feet with a walker within 18 hours of the surgery. She felt it afterwards, but it was worth it. There was definite surprise on the faces of some of the medical staff when they were told of that first PT session. Star patient, for sure.
Two main motivations to do all the PT and get going ASAP - ability to play with the grandchildren and walk the dogs. Or is that walk the grandchildren and play with the dogs? Whichever. She comes home sometime tomorrow, just in time to supervise the making of a bunny butt cake. I'm home all next week, with BD to help during that week and beyond. I'm hoping that her recovery keeps going the way it has been.

Glad to hear that she's doing well. Good vibes continue while she's on her way to 100 percent recovery, and we hope that doesn't take long at all!

Excellent! Continued best wishes for a quick and full recovery. Grandmothering is hard work, you need to be in top condition!

Glad to hear she's up & around, the knee works, & no clots. That's the important part. & the grandkids.

Needed, but no longer does. Just letting people know that GW had the second knee replaced about four weeks ago. This recovery is going even better than the first (knock wood, mach a feig, spit three times ...). She's getting around extremely well for this stage. Could do a 90-degree bend in the leg within a day, and 0-degree for extension. Doc said that was the goal for the two-week recovery. Very impressed. Was back home a day earlier than the first time. BD has been helping with the caretaking stuff, one of the reasons to do the second knee so soon, before SIL got back from South Korea and they head off to the next deployment base.
I got a chuckle out of her early on. The first operation had been scheduled for the late afternoon, so she wasn't out of the OR until after 8 PM and had to spend the night in the recovery area because they didn't have an available bed upstairs. This time, the operation was scheduled for 7:30 AM. I told her she got special treatment because she was a repeat customer.
She's still home on short-term disability, but able to go up and down stairs. So she's getting a lot of sewing done. She has started quilting, and has been buying kits and more kits from one of the quilting sites. Sorry, Christie1111, don't know which site. I guess the talent is hereditary. Her mom did a lot of quilting and such, too.
Now back to trying to get this new computer set up properly. Backup program did okay, but put the files in an oddball place and did NOT backup my bookmarks. Just now managed to get the old PC to work long enough to transfer the files to a thumb drive, then into the new beastie. I'm happy about that, but now am distrustful about the capabilities of backup software. TTFN!

Great to hear surgery worked & everything is working up to spec. Many thoughts from me for her increasingly rapid recovery.
On another note, never trust software!
I wish you could. But some of that stuff is so un-checked-out its nutty. Even if you're staying within a "family" of equipment.

Unless you are doing an
image back-up, it will typically just do anything under "My Documents," unless you specify additional locations. The bookmarks are stored separately for each User, so they are stored under the user folders in C: Drive. Probably C:\Users\<user name>\Favorites. If you copy them out from there, you should be able to copy them back to the analogous place in your new system.
If you
download your e-mails to your PC, you should also copy off your Address Book and E-Mail files if you want to keep them. If you simply access your e-mails by connecting to your ISP and reading/managing/sending from there, there shouldn't be any on your PC, as they would reside on your ISP's server.
