ABC has announced that it will expand this year's series of Lost episodes by making the season finale a two hour show to be aired May 29, after the end of May sweeps and the traditional broadcast season.
There will still be only five more episodes produced this season, but the extra hour gives the show 14 hours of airtime. The original pre-strike plans were for 16 hours, so the producers should be able to wrap up most of what they planned to do this season. They had indicated earlier that the now two remaining missing hours will be rolled into the final two upcoming seasons and that some plot lines that had originally been planned for this season had to be delayed as a result of the strike.
Gray's Anatomy will also have a two hour sendoff show one week earlier on May 22 (preempting Lost that week), The Gray's finale is also one day after the end of May sweeps.
