Powerline/Breitbart Trump Dustup

I tend to visit Powerline daily as my conservative blog of choice. Once in awhile, I click through their blogroll list to Breitbart or others.

Breitbart appears to be embroiled in a controversy(that I do not care enough about to dig into very much)-But it appears that several (Non-Trump supporting) staffers have left because the Breitbart TPTB tend to favor Trump.

The guys at Powerline are VERY STRONGLY opposed to Trump. I noticed today that they have removed Breitbart from their Blogroll.

I found this kind of interesting, if nothing else.

It came to a head when Breitbart higher-ups threw one of their reporters under the bus and didn't support her when she alleged that Trump's Campaign Manager assaulted her.

The only video we have of the incident does not support her claim.

It is possible something happened that wasn't filmed, but for now she has no evidence but her word, some bruises (which might only indicate he grabbed her a little hard) and supporting testimony from a rabid anti-Trump guy.

The only video we have fails to prove her claim, but it does not "not support her claim."

She can clearly be seen reacting to someone grabbing her. What we can't see is who that someone is.

The bruises are proof of an assault (at least it would be in Texas): Unwanted touching + bodily injury = Class A Misdemeanor Assault in Texas.

Right but in her original claim she said she was thrown down.

I'm going to need a source on that. From the beginning, all I heard was that Lewandowski pulled her so hard that she almost fell down.

Yeah, after doing a search, it's pretty clear that Jeemie just made up the "fact" that Fields ever claimed to have been knocked to the ground. From the beginning she said she was grabbed and pulled so hard that she almost went to the ground but was able to keep her balance.

The Powerline guys (very anti-trump) are becoming reconciled to the idea of a Trump nomination and presidency.

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2 ... l-ball.php

Long post and I do not necessarily agree with his ideas on Trump's electability, however, I do agree (mostly) with the following paragraph. I especially agree with the 2/3 Democrat-1/3 Republican administration and the use of the Ventura comparison as a possible Trump model. I have thought for months that Ventura is the best model we have for a Trump presidency.

What happens then? I think a Trump presidency would not be as dramatic as most people suppose. He has little in the way of fixed policy positions, and not much knowledge of how the federal government operates. He would be forced to rely heavily on advisers, whom he would probably pick from the middle of the road, as Trump is basically a centrist (albeit not a very well-informed one). I think we would see a sort of compromise administration that, in the end, would be about 2/3 Democrat and 1/3 Republican. That’s what happened here in Minnesota when we elected a former professional wrestler and actor, Jesse Ventura, as governor. In policy terms Trump would be a severe disappointment to his followers—the ones who care about policy, anyway.

Corey Lewandowski is out as Trump’s campaign manager

Is this a sign that Trump is planning a more conventional campaign? I don't know. He continues to make outrageous statements, and he doesn't toe the conservative line on several issues.

Reactions to Corey's ouster:
Trump aide Michael Caputo tweeted "Ding dong the witch is dead!"

Michelle Fields tweeted after Monday's announcement: "Hey @CLewandowski_ I hear @BreitbartNews is hiring." (Fields left Breitbart in protest of the way the news organization handled the incident.)
