Another early post. Auditing a local vendor today and will be out of the office and out of touch with computers for most of the day.
BD is now officially registered at Macy's. She and GW spent several hours over the weekend online, then a couple of hours at a store in person. For some reason, Macy's doesn't put all their wedding-type things on the website. Just as well. The ladies got to talk with the store's registry coordinator, which led to some additional items on the list.
I got all the rabbi's contact info from Mom, and sent it on to GW's work e-mail. Thinking about it, I hope it's current. Mom said she was working off his business card (yes, rabbis have business cards) and I think that's several years old. We have other ways of getting the current information, if what we have is outdated. Maybe GW will hear back from one of the chaplains today.

BD is not registered. The couple is registered.
I know I am the airy fairy voice on the bored. I know some roll their eyes at the things I point to and I am gonna keep on saying them.
You are being, speaking and creating, with your speaking, that this is BD wedding. No wonder fsil is not doing any of the work - it ain't his in the speaking, why should he do anything for something that ain't his?

FWIW, my understanding is that MOST weddings are the bride's, rather than the groom's. Maybe it ain't equal rights or equal time, but that's the way it is. Guys generally don't think about the rigmarole involved with weddings. At least THIS guy (me) didn't. The guy blog readers should add their own two cents here on this subject.peacock2121 wrote:um...........gsabc wrote: BD is now officially registered at Macy's.

Besides, he's 3000 miles away, is not from this area and doesn't know the territory (cue Harold Hill). He can't do a whole lot long distance regarding choice of florist, choice of photographer, choice of venue, etc., nor has he expressed much interest in doing so. We've tried to give him some input on those choices, but he has effectively declined the opportunities. Answers such as "It doesn't matter" and "That's okay with me" aren't much help. We have tried to give him some tasks where we think he CAN be of help. The chaplain search is the biggest. It hasn't happened.
Also FWIW, the rabbi told GW that in his experience, Army chaplains don't like doing mixed-religion weddings any more than the other conservative clergy. This had not been our impression or belief. Since we have not heard back from the local chaplains ourselves, we have no real data.
