I don't know how I would have done up to this point, but these three questions would not have been difficult.

OK, lessee ... Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, Dallas, Phoenix, none of the above. Ugh, I'm up to nine. OK, saints it is -- I got two of those

Now to go look it up . .. Ugh. I lucked out. Shoulda been San Jose versus San Francisco, and add San Diego.

Free guess -- I'll guess Walt Whitman.

And Sayonara.

30K: I only know Man in Mirror. Don't even know other songs. I'd throw whatever lifelines I have left at it, & probably go out here.

50K: If still alive there's chance I could have got this.

100K: Whitman wrote famous poem about Lincoln (When Lilacs...) after Lincoln's death. That's after 1851.

Carrie Nation's movement was in early 1900s, culminating in prohibition.

Think Barnum later too.

Might have got this.

Curious that they didn't include Los Angeles in the count, given its historical name, as I'm quoting from Wikipedia.
In 1771, Franciscan friar Junípero Serra directed the building of the Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, the first mission in the area. On September 4, 1781, a group of forty-four settlers known as "Los Pobladores" founded the pueblo called "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula"; in English it is "The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels of the Porciúncula River". The Queen of the Angels is an honorific of the Virgin Mary.
And she's a saint.
