I knew that bear was on the Cal flag. Didn't know for sure bear was extinct in wild. I knew NM flag was Native American sun symbol, or based on one. I can't even picture Hawaii or Florida flags. I like think I'd have just gone w/ Cal. But that the audience gave contestant NM just hurt to see.

I don't assume they did it out of malice. So they really thought NM.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that 40% of the audience didn't know what was on the New Mexico flag. Hawaii has the Union Jack in its field and no animal, nor does Florida. California has a bear, but I was a bit confused by the fact that the animal hasn't been seen in the wild. I thought grizzly bears still roamed in Yosemite. But that's the only answer that fits, so that's how I'll roll.

The flag depicts the California grizzly, not the plain-old North American grizzly. The CA species is extinct.

The only two I know for sure are NM and CA. I assume FL and HI have some bright flower or something.

I have no problem saying CA for that grizzly bear.

Boy, was I wrong. I still got it right, but not because of what's on the FL and HI flags.
