It's 100 years since Annette Kellerman became the first person to appear nude in a Hollywood film. But this was just one of many remarkable events in her life.

People lose track of the fact that, before the Production Code began being enforced in 1934, nudity wasn't uncommon in mainstream movies, nor were depictions of drug use and abuse, prostitution, sexual promiscuity, and similar topics that became heavily censored thereafter. Most films containing nude scenes were simply not televised in later years (or televised in edited or censored versions like Tarazn and His Mate, featuring a full nude scene by Maureen O'Sullivan's body double).
It's good to see tribute paid to a pioneer.
