Lyrically Speaking - 2/18/16

#1 Post by Rainbow Donkey » Thu Feb 18, 2016 7:05 am

When LB asked his most popular creation to host an LSWE game for him, I assumed he managed to find 12 songs that had to do with majestic unicorns. Nope... of course he didn't, because nobody ever writes songs about unicorns. So I'll have to make do with a horse theme instead. There's a direct or indirect equine connection in each of the songs below. If anyone would like to rub my horn for good luck, I'll be over in the Ted Cruz thread making everyone there happy and cheerful.... or possibly goring a few BB's...

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist...

1. But I said no, no, no, no-no-no
I said no, no, you're not the one for me
No, no, no, no-no-no
I said no, no, you're not the one for me

2. Riding into town alone
By the light of the moon
I'm looking for ole Sukie Jones
She crazy horse saloon

3. The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound

4. Did you find the directing sign on the
Straight and narrow highway
Would you mind a reflecting sign
Just let it shine within your mind
And show you the colors that are real

5. Ten silver saxes,
a bass with a bow
The drummer relaxes
and waits between shows

6. Rose and Valerie
Screaming from the gallery
Say he must go free

7. You been running all over the town now.
Oh! I guess I'll have to put your flat feet on the ground.

8. By the dark of the moon I planted
But there came an early snow
There's been a hoot owl howling outside my window now
For six nights in a row

9. It's in the palm of your hand now baby
It's a yes or no, no maybe
So just be sure before you give it up to me
Up to me, give it up to me

10. Yes and I ain't saying you ain't pretty
All I'm sayin's that I'm not ready
For any person, place or thing
To try and pull the reins in on me

11. Riding on the chuck wagon,
Following my man.
His name is Ted,
Can you believe that?

12. The question to everyone's answer
Is usually asked from within
But the patterns of the rain
And the truth they contain
Have written my life on your skin

1. But I said no, no, no, no-no-no
I said no, no, you're not the one for me
No, no, no, no-no-no
I said no, no, you're not the one for me
Black Horse and a Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall (Mecca was fascinated with her during her brief moment of popularity, and still plays the hell out of her two hits on Mecca Radio today...)

2. Riding into town alone
By the light of the moon
I'm looking for ole Sukie Jones
She crazy horse saloon
Back in the Saddle - Aerosmith

3. The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound
A Horse With No Name - America

4. Did you find the directing sign on the
Straight and narrow highway
Would you mind a reflecting sign
Just let it shine within your mind
And show you the colors that are real
Spinning Wheel - Blood Sweat and Tears (Obviously included for the "ride a painted pony" line...)

5. Ten silver saxes,
a bass with a bow
The drummer relaxes
and waits between shows
Cinnamon Girl - Neil Young and Crazy Horse

6. Rose and Valerie
Screaming from the gallery
Say he must go free
Maxwell's Silver Hammer - Beatles (Hi ho Silver, away!)

7. You been running all over the town now.
Oh! I guess I'll have to put your flat feet on the ground.
Mustang Sally - Wilson Pickett

8. By the dark of the moon I planted
But there came an early snow
There's been a hoot owl howling outside my window now
For six nights in a row
Wildfire - Michael Martin Murphy (Maybe next year I'll do a theme of "Songs that keep showing up in LS games despite having only one usable lyrical snippet...)

9. It's in the palm of your hand now baby
It's a yes or no, no maybe
So just be sure before you give it up to me
Up to me, give it up to me
Dark Horse - Katy Perry with Juicy J

10. Yes and I ain't saying you ain't pretty
All I'm sayin's that I'm not ready
For any person, place or thing
To try and pull the reins in on me
Different Drum - Linda Ronstadt & The Stone Poneys

11. Riding on the chuck wagon,
Following my man.
His name is Ted,
Can you believe that?
I Wanna Be A Cowboy - Boys Don't Cry

12. The question to everyone's answer
Is usually asked from within
But the patterns of the rain
And the truth they contain
Have written my life on your skin
Jungle Love - Steve Miller Band (Anyone who's ever seen a SMB album cover will know why they're here...)

Image Bonus: You know what to do here... - I think this game's images earned players more JJC points than in any other this year. Still, I'm going with Saucy catching Rainbow Donkey taking a leak for the 5 point IBB...

JJC points:

Weasel gets a delayed JJC point for Mr. Ed. I was sure several other players would use it as well, but nobody did...

frank gets 3 JJC points for riding Rose Marie and for that friendly warning...

smiler gets 2 JJC points for neigh and the Iron Horse...

Krox gets a JJC point for scenes from the office party...

BiT gets a supermax for beating a dead horse and his answer to #11, which about made me pee my pants...

ear gets a JJC point for minimizing the horse gore...

TBone gets 2 JJC points for Sticky Me Elmo and Quick Draw McGraw...

jarnon gets a JJC point for the Syrian Trojan horse...

elwood gets a JJC point that attractive lady...

Lizbit gets a supermax for the HIPPO act...

Marley gets a JJC point for pouncing on the hottest ticket in town...

Vandal gets 2 JJC points for reusing an image from last year. The "How Legalization Took The Fun Out Of Sodomy" is still pointworthy a second time...

Saucy gets 3 JJC points for peeing rainbows...

Esto gets 2 JJC points for expanding my cinematic knowledge...

Sprots gets 2 JJC points for taking all day to post a predictable image. Had she used Ol' Horseteeth, I'd have given her a supermax and maybe the IBB...

Points:
