There's a New Star Trek TV Series Coming in 2017

I wonder if it will be based on Star Trek: The Next Generation and the shows that followed it, or the recent Star Trek movies.

Bryan Fuller will be the showrunner.

The first few episodes will be free but then we'll have to buy CBS All-Access for $10 a month.

Alex Kurtzman, co-writer of the two Abrams movies, is the co-showrunner, and his production company Secret Hideout is also involved. I think the new series will lean more towards the format of the newer films than anything classic, though with a brand new cast, it could even be something completely new (or a hybrid with some classic content).

This trailer makes it look like it's none of the above. One scene (at 0:15) was troubling.
